To-Teally Hot by Finger Paints

Hey everyone!

So I should have posted this yesterday for Teal Tuesday and forgot. Oops. I went to my local Sally's Beauty on Sunday because they were having a 50% off of all of their already clearance items. I couldn't resist. Most of the polish there was Orly's Dark Shadows collection (I purchased Buried Alive while I was there and I've already purchased 2 others which I reviewed here) but there were a few Finger Paints. Most of them had separated where not one had shook them in a while. Most people assume that means that they are ruined, but we all know that's not true.

This is To-Teally Hot. And I love it. It first looked like a strange yellow green with yellow at the bottom. I shook it up and look how pretty it is! Can you believe that I got it for $1.99? This is 2 coats and it does try a smooth matte. What is smooth matte you ask? Not exactly matte but not exactly shiny. Not sure of how else to describe it, if you know the correct term let me know.

It did stain around the edges of my fingers, but after a good scrub with Acetone, it wasn't that bad. It's a small price to pay for such a pretty color.

Sinful Colors indeed!

Hey everyone,

I wanted to make a quick post to share with you something terrible. Sinful Colors has placed fairly large displays in Walgreens recently. In their big display there is a pamphlet talking about nail art techniques. Mary over at Swatch and Learn had one of her designs stolen and published in this pamphlet without credit. Check out her post for more info!

Blog News: Sinful Colors Used My Photo in Their Pamphlet without Permission & Distributed it in Walgreens

I remember looking at this photo and thinking it was a Konad stamp and most certainly not a toothpick swirl design. Shame on Sinful Colors for using her photo and not crediting her. And didn't Revlon buy them too? Shame on Revlon too!

Holy Glitter Batman!!!

Hey everyone!

The Dark Knight Rises comes out today! My husband is a huge Batman fan. So huge in fact that had I been asleep when they came in for the birth certificate, my son might have been named Bruce Wayne. Hubby is still trying to talk me into the name Robin if we have a girl later on. Anyway, I decided to decorate my nails for the movie, but before that I had to create polish of course!

Meet Holy Glitter Batman! This polish can be for sale if you'd like, but it will be limited edition at a first come first served basis. If you are interested than leave me a comment below and I can create a custom listing.

Sticks 'n Stones by Cover Band

Hey everyone,

I have a special treat for you today! I bought my first Indie a while back. I stalk Etsy quite regularly but have yet to buy anything but when I saw that Sticks 'n Stones was on sale I had to jump on it right away. The shipping from Ninja Polish was super fast, I was very pleased with how quick it got here.

I know Sticks 'n Stones looks good with neon colors, but I also wanted to try it up against a soft color, so I went with my go to color, Zoya's Kristen.

Kristen is a beautiful dusty blueish purple that I adore. It actually reminds me a lot of Julep's Renee, I'll have to do a comparison swatch.

Sticks 'n Stones is just as fantastic as everyone says. This is with 3 coats to get all of the glitter sizes and types on each nail.

My only problem with Sticks 'n Stones was the stick glitter hung off the nails and hung on everything, but I didn't put a top coat on it, so that was my own fault. Other than that I love love love Sticks 'n Stones and couldn't be more pleased with my first Indie polish. Now I'm off to buy them all!

Julep Intro Box

Hey everyone!

I know I'm so behind. I've had my box for over a month and still haven't reviewed it, for shame! I'm so excited to finally be a Julep Maven. I've heard about Julep before and loved the shape of the bottles. So when they had their penny sale I totally jumped on board. I took my style quiz and turns out I'm an American Beauty! Makes me feel pretty. In my box I had to bottles of polish, Eva & Renee, as well as a tube of pedicure cream.

4th of July 2012

Hey everyone!

I have a 4th of July mani just for you guys. I'm super excited. It's a variation of what I did last year. I'm really happy with it.

I love it! I started off with 2 coats of Claire's Snowball. Then with Pure Ice's Celestial and Bundle Monster Plate BM20 I made the blue stars. Then I took Pure Ice's Siren and Bundle Monster Plate BM20 to make the stripes. Lastly I took both Pure Ice polishes and Bundle Monster plate BM 201 to do the abstract firework design. Add in a coat of Wet N Wild's Kaleidoscope and top it all off with Seche Vite and you have this completed mani! A quick and easy mani for the 4th of July.

Hope you all enjoy it!

Zoya America Polish (UPDATE)

ZOYA is celebrating the 4th of July by handing out a FREE bottle of “America” nail polish with FREE shipping!
Just use the code “Freedom2” at check out.
CLICK HERE to take part in this awesome deal! I don’t know how long it will last so JUMP ON IT!

EDIT!!!!

So that was a bust. Turns out you had to put $10 worth of stuff in your cart first to get the deal. But the problem is that Zoya didn't say this until the early morning of July 4th. And at that point 165K people had ordered America. Another problem, Zoya let the orders go through without $10 worth of product in the carts and they even sent out confirmation emails.

I understand it was a major error in their system, however, I think it was irresponsible of Zoya to only post on their Facebook that they were cancelling orders. If I hadn't of seen the drama on Twitter then I wouldn't have known my order was cancelled. I never received any sort of notification that my order was cancelled. That's bad business. What if we don't have Facebook? If you can send an auto-generated email telling me that my order was accepted, than you can send one telling me it was cancelled too.

I don't mind that it was cancelled. I completely get it, they were going to be out millions of dollars by honors all of the orders, but seriously you need to better explain yourself than a simple Facebook status. They still have not addressed this on their Blogger page. It's a good thing I love Zoya so much, because this really turned me off as a consumer.

Dark Shadows by Orly

Hey everyone!

Today I have 2 polishes from the Dark Shadows collection by Orly. I went to my local Sally's Beauty and they had these in a display already reduced to $3.99 and then anything red tagged like these polishes were also marked an additional half off. So I bought these and a polish from the Hunger Games which I'll show later.

The first polish I have to show you is Decades of Dysfunction. I wanted this polish because it's a pretty white/nude cream.

Sadly this color was only a reproduction of Pure Porcelain. But lucky for me, I never owned Pure Porcelain! And for the price I couldn't resist. I really love this color, even if it does give me a bit of lobster hands. It's perfect for those days that you want to wear a soft polish, but not go stark white.

This was 2 coats. It's streaky for some reason on my thumb in pictures, it wasn't streaky in person. I really do like this polish, it's so pretty.

Next for you we have Mysterious Curse.

I don't know what is is about purple Orly polishes. I do not care for this one. This was the one I was most interested in! The purple is a streaky mess this is 2 coats and you could still see nail underneath. I want to try it over a purple or black cream, then I may like it more. The blue flash is pretty and it's a constant flash instead of a "certain lighting" flash. I hate when I get a bottle and see all these colors and don't get them on the nail.

This polish is also a reproduction of their polish called Royal Velvet. But again, I don't own the original so I'm happy to have this one, it's just not my favorite. I'll have to try this over a black or something and get back to you on if I liked it more. If not, this may be a giveaway polish.

All in all I was only interested in these 2 from the collection and it was a hit and a miss. I have bad luck with purples made my Orly, I hated Fowl Play. And while I don't hate Mysterious Curse, I don't love it either. It's a shame when companies create polishes for movies and all they do is rename a previous color. That's just laziness in my opinion. If you have a suggestion for a polish for me to check out let me know. Or if you have a suggestion on how to make Mysterious Curse work for me, give me a shout in the comments!
