Monkey See Monkey Do: Pinterest

Hey everyone,

I'm terrible about keeping a set schedule for my blog. I have so many swatches left to still post. Bag blogger bad! Anyway, today is Monkey See, Monkey Do Monday! I found my favorite pin on Pinterest and recreated it. And it took forever to search for the original creator. It made me happy to read that the person who actually did these nails was an professional nail technician and I was able to recreate them without their training. Here's the link to the pin: <Click Me>

China Glaze's Flip Flop Fantasy has taken off on Pinterest. Everyone and their brother who likes summer neons has repinned a swatch. So when I bought it at my local Sally's Beauty Supply on sale for $4.99 I knew I'd have to use it in my design. And I'm not a fan of yellowish looking gold so I used silver gliter. Sinful Color's Queen of Beauty to be exact. The chevron nail I did freehand with an Art Deco striper and Claire's Snowball as the base. I love these nails so much!

Flip Flop Fantasy can be a little streaky. I found myself having to go over it with 3 coats and the spot checking with a very thin 4th coat. Queen of Beauty has full coverage with 2 thick coats. I was very pleased with the ease of this glitter polish. It is also smooth and not rough like Milani's One Coat Glitters. I topped all each nail off with a coat of Seche Vete to seal it in. So shiny!

All in all this is my most successful MSMD Monday yet! Can't wait to do something for next week!

The Eyrie by NotTooPolished

Hey everyone!

Yesterday I reviewed NotTooPolished's Tangerine. Today I have another one! This one is called The Eyrie and is from Game of Thrones. I personally do not watch Game of Thrones (I don't have HBO, please don't attack!) so I had no idea. I just thought it was beautiful. Of course when I got it home I realized it was the blue version of Tangerine, but I am totally okay with that!

I loved Tangerine and all, but seriously? The Eyrie is amazing. I love it so much. It has an ice blue base with small white matte glitter, holographic hex glitter, and large white matte glitter. Again not a fan of larger sized glitter but in The Eyrie it actually came out very easy with one nail so I made sure to fish it out for some others. It wasn't difficult at all. Just a simple shake and out they came. This bottle may just change my opinion of large hex glitter, but I didn't have an ounce of trouble.

On my index and middle finger I put 3 coats over my bare nail. Then my pinkie, ring, and thumb were all 3 coats over Sally Hansen Insta-Dri's Blew Away. With Tangerine I loved the polish even more after it was over a colored base. The Eyrie is the exact opposite. I love it so much more without the base color. It seems more cold and icy without the base. Not to mention Blew Away made all of the holographic glitter look purple. I completely recommend this polish without a base color, The Eyrie doesn't it!

Tangerine by NotTooPolished

Hey everyone!

Long time no see! Sorry I disappeared on everyone. The giveaway finished, Grace won! Super excited to get everything out to her. Real life became a little crazy so polish and blogging had to be put on hold. But I'm back baby doll!

Today I have a fantastic Indie Polish to show you! Tangerine from NotTooPolished!

Sooo pretty! Tangerine just reminds me of a nice juicy Tangerine. And for some reason I can never find tangerines in my area. So this polish is pure torture, but the best kind of torture. It has a thin orange base with red/orange hex glitter, small white matte glitter, and then big white matte glitter. I'm not necessarily a fan of big glitter like the white so I just let it stay in the bottle and did not actively try to fish it out. The bigger white pieces reminded me of the seeds in oranges!

My index and middle finger have 3 coats over my bare nail. And my ring, pinkie, and thumb have 3 coats over Wet N Wild's Sunny Side Up. While I liked the way it looked over my bare nail this polish really shined for me once I put it over the orange base. I would really like to try a soft orange gradient with Tangerine on top, I think it would look fantastic. Note to self...

To-Teally Hot by Finger Paints

Hey everyone!

So I should have posted this yesterday for Teal Tuesday and forgot. Oops. I went to my local Sally's Beauty on Sunday because they were having a 50% off of all of their already clearance items. I couldn't resist. Most of the polish there was Orly's Dark Shadows collection (I purchased Buried Alive while I was there and I've already purchased 2 others which I reviewed here) but there were a few Finger Paints. Most of them had separated where not one had shook them in a while. Most people assume that means that they are ruined, but we all know that's not true.

This is To-Teally Hot. And I love it. It first looked like a strange yellow green with yellow at the bottom. I shook it up and look how pretty it is! Can you believe that I got it for $1.99? This is 2 coats and it does try a smooth matte. What is smooth matte you ask? Not exactly matte but not exactly shiny. Not sure of how else to describe it, if you know the correct term let me know.

It did stain around the edges of my fingers, but after a good scrub with Acetone, it wasn't that bad. It's a small price to pay for such a pretty color.

Sinful Colors indeed!

Hey everyone,

I wanted to make a quick post to share with you something terrible. Sinful Colors has placed fairly large displays in Walgreens recently. In their big display there is a pamphlet talking about nail art techniques. Mary over at Swatch and Learn had one of her designs stolen and published in this pamphlet without credit. Check out her post for more info!

Blog News: Sinful Colors Used My Photo in Their Pamphlet without Permission & Distributed it in Walgreens

I remember looking at this photo and thinking it was a Konad stamp and most certainly not a toothpick swirl design. Shame on Sinful Colors for using her photo and not crediting her. And didn't Revlon buy them too? Shame on Revlon too!

Holy Glitter Batman!!!

Hey everyone!

The Dark Knight Rises comes out today! My husband is a huge Batman fan. So huge in fact that had I been asleep when they came in for the birth certificate, my son might have been named Bruce Wayne. Hubby is still trying to talk me into the name Robin if we have a girl later on. Anyway, I decided to decorate my nails for the movie, but before that I had to create polish of course!

Meet Holy Glitter Batman! This polish can be for sale if you'd like, but it will be limited edition at a first come first served basis. If you are interested than leave me a comment below and I can create a custom listing.
