Youtube Tutorial Tuesday: Aztec Owl

Hey everyone

Today I have a completely adorable manicure to show you for YTT. This video is brought to you by Professional DQ. Hope you guys like it.

How cute was that video? I love the fresh  take on owl nails. I've never seen anything like it and I knew I had to do it. This was based on Sunday being the first day of my Alphabet Challenge on Instagram (@Tara825c look me up!). A stood for Aztec so here we are.

I had a little bit of a hard time because my pink striper was very gloopy and I didn't have any thinner. Other than that I think these are wonderful. And I hope you like them too.

Youtube Tutorial Tuesday: Distressed American Flag Nail Art Tutorial

Hey everyone

Today I have a YTT from PackAPunchPolish. Her video takes Saran Wrap Manis to a whole new level. Check our her video below.

How awesome are these? Here is my attempt.

As you can see I did not add the stars in. I think it looks much better without the flags, and you can still see what it is. I used OPI's My Boyfriend Scales Walls, Pure Ice's Celestial, and Zoya's Quinn. I hope you guys like this edition of YTT!

Youtube Tutorial Tuesday: Beach Balls

Hey everyone

Today I have another YTT design inspired by CutePolish. Below is her video.

Super cute right? Well I tried something a little different. I used my whole nail and used matte vs shiny dots as the rest of my nail design.

The final product turned out great. Polish used:

  1. OPI's My Boyfriend Scales Walls
  2. Zoya's Sookie
  3. Sally Hansen Insta-Dri's Lightning
  4. Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear's Blue Me Away

They do totally remind me of Legos though. May have to try those in the very near future. Hope you guys like these!

Youtube Tutorial Tuesday: Saran Wrap

Hey everyone

Today I have a new type of mani for you. Have you heard of a Saran Wrap mani? It's where you paint 2 different polishes and while the 2nd is wet you dab some off with Saran Wrap balls. Sound confusing? That's what YTT is all about. I'd never done one before, but it was the challenge for 6/10/13 on Instagram (I know I'm a day late). So I went to Youtube and found the video below from GetNailedd.

Sounds super easy right? Well, not if you forget to buy Saran Wrap. So I had to use a pleated sandwich bag. Which is not as sticky, but still got the job done.

I used Zoya's Wednesday and China Glaze's Mahogany Magic. To be honest I should have used a darker brown. I was going for the look of a tuquoise stone, and I still think I nailed it. What do you think? Have you tried the Saran Wrap (Sandwich Bag) Mani? How did yours turn out?

Youtube Tutorial Tuesday: Floral Doodle

Hey everyone

Today I have another design from CutePolish. This design was perfect for 3 different reasons.

  1. I love CutePolish
  2. I needed flowers for my Instagram challenge
  3. I needed a Youtube video
Perfect right? This was a super cute design that I'm very excited to show you guys. Here's the video:

My colors are a little darker than what CutePolish picked, but I think it's cute nonetheless. My flowers are totally crazy looking too.

I probably should have used a toothpick or a dotting tool, I think they would have looked better than. But they are still cute.

Polish Used:
  1. OPI's My Boyfriend Scales Walls
  2. NYC's Midtown Mimosa
  3. Orly's Snowcone (which seriously smells bad)
  4. Sally Hansen Insta-Dri's Mango Motion
  5. Salon Perfect (Long Brush)'s Black
I made sure to have the color picking out past the flower. I gives it a little something extra I think. What do you guys think? I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

Youtube Tutorial Tuesday: Snow White

Hey everyone

It's Tuesday! That means it's time for a Youtube Tutorial. This time I searched Youtube for nail art tutorials instead of looking for nail artists. It was this way that I found RosLion90. She did a tutorial for Snow White nails.

So cute. I loved it. I've looked through her videos and there's a few more I'd like to try as well.

My Snow White totally looks like a Lego character. These turned out so much better than I was expecting. Drawing people in general is not my strong suit. Looks like I need to draw them all like Lego Characters.

  1. Skin: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Petal Pusher
  2. Hair and Eyes :Art Deco long brush in Black (and white for the shine)
  3. Yellow Base: Essence in Wanna Be Your Sunshine
  4. Dots and Tips: Orly in Snowcone.

ACNC Day 18: Classic

Hey everyone

Today is a day 18 and it's Classic. This really took me a second to figure out what I wanted to do. Then I decided I wanted to do a half moon, but what kind? I didn't want to just do a plain one. So I looked through a folder of my favorite nails I've seen on the web. I then found The Nailasaurus' half moon she did for the Tadashi Shoji Nail Art Challenge. I knew I had to try them. It's very rare for me to see a stamped design and actually have the stamp these days. I still need the 2012 Bundle Monster collection. This mani features Bundle Monster Plate BM21 from their 2010 collection. Today I'm going to also show you step by step how to do this mani. I'm quite excited and I hope you are too!

Start off with your base coat. Then cut hole reinforcers in half. Put them on your fingers one at a time right above your cuticle line. I used OPI's My Boyfriend Scales Walls to cover anything that wasn't covered by the hole reinforcers.

I then used Pure Ice's Celestial along with BM21 to stamp the design on my nails. Pure Ice is the go to polish when it comes to water marbling and stamping. I'm not sure what makes them so different from the bigger brands, but they are perfect for these techniques. I couldn't recommend them enough. And they are so cheap too!

Once they stamp is done remove the hole reinforcers. This will give you a clean line. If you have any leakage from under the tape use a little bit of acetone and just wipe it away with a Q-Tip or brush.

Now you can leave it like this if you want. If you have longer nails you could even do this as a french manicure instead of a half moon mani. But I wanted to smooth everything out. So I then used a nail brush from my Bundle Monster nail brush collection and traced the line of the half moon with Celestial.

I'm quite in love with these nails. I know I've said that a bunch throughout this challenge, but I'm quite happy with myself. I haven't really done my nails a whole lot since I had my son, so I was worried I'd lost my touch. I think I'm only getting better. I hope I've done Sam justice and you guys like these! If you attempt this mani using my tutorial please send me the link to your nails, I'd love to see them!

Crab Tutorial

Hi everyone,

I'm super excited to show you my first tutorial. This design is based off of the crab design that Top Coat It! did. Now this was the first time I'd done the design so it's not the greatest, but in my defense my newborn had kept me up all night and I needed something to do to relax. So my hands were a little more shakey than they usually are.
